Working closely with the staff in a strategic role, the Governing Body oversees the work of the school and provides direction, guidance and support. Governors are critical friends of the school.
The Governing Body
  • is accountable for the performance of the school
  • makes sure that the National Curriculum is taught and that the school follows statutory assessment procedures
  • makes decisions about the school's budget and staffing
  • ensures that the school caters for all pupils, including those with special educational needs
  • decides how the school can encourage the pupils educational, spiritual, moral and cultural development
  • plans for the future development of the school
Who are the governors?
  • representatives of parents, the local community and the school staff
  • volunteers who make a commitment to the school
  • people with a range of skills which make an important contribution to success of the school
  • people who come from all walks of life and are of all ages!
