Modern Foreign Languages

French is taught from the start of KS2 in Year 3 which follows the Scheme of Work set out by the Rigolo resource. Units begin with learning how to repeat and recognise words and phrases, progressing to being able to read and write the vocabulary. Once children become confident with the models of language, they are encouraged to use it for real communication.

Intercultural understanding is also promoted within the MFL curriculum which highlights that customs in different countries, not just in France, may be carried out differently to what they may be used to.
