Athletics/Cross Country

Wednesday 29th March 2017
IPSSA Cross Country

The IPSSA cross country event  took place at the Royal Hospital  School with 35 schools entered and over 850 children taking part! We took 47 children, by bus, comprising years 4, 5 and 6.  Well done to all the children for completing the course, you showed great determination!  Especially those children that started with trepidation, thinking they might get lost along the course.

We entered twelve year 4 boys and the race had 115 runners.  A special well done to Taylor for finishing 3rd in this race.  Other successes included Stanley finishing 12th, with a further 7 boys finishing in the top 50, but with everyone finishing in the first 70 runners.

We entered twelve year 4 girls and the race had 96 runners.  Robyn finished 9th with Aimee close behind at 16th.   We had a further 7 girls finishing in the top 50 and once again, everyone finished in the first 70 runners.

This is an amazing result for their first competition, but they attended training regularly and this has paid off.  Well done year 4!

We entered eight year 5 boys and the race had 179 runners!  Well done to Callum B for finishing 41st, we had 4 further boys finishing in the top 100, but everyone continued to do their best and complete the course and we still finished ahead of over 25 other runners.

We entered eight year 5 girls and the race had 136 runners.  Well done to Lois for finishing 7th with Bonnie finishing in quick succession in 10th.  Two further girls finished in the top 40 runners, and the other four runners all completed the course in the top 100.

Well done year 5, this was also your first competition.

On the day we only had three year 6 boys and the race had 167 runners.  Well done to Toby D for finishing 73rd and also to the other two boys who finished ahead of over 30 other runners.

We entered four year 6 girls and the race had 164 runners.  Well done to Fredrina for finishing in the top 100 and to the other three girls who again finished ahead of over 30 other runners!

Well done to the year 6 children, especially those that rose to the challenge for the second year running.

The overall school results were issued after Easter and we were delighted to see our success with the Year 4 boys A team finishing 3rd, the Year 4 girls A team finishing 3rd and the Year 5 girls A team finishing 2nd

Thank you to the parents for their help and support!
