What training and expertise do staff have?

We are very fortunate to have committed staff who have a vast range of interests, expertise and skills. These include:

· ELKLAN trained TAs

· ELSA trained TAs

· THRIVE trained PSW

· Switch-on trained TAs

· Staff with significant experience and understanding of supporting pupils with ASD and FASD

· School Safe trained workforce

· De-escalation/manual handling trained staff

· A Reading Recovery Teacher (no longer accredited)

· We having a growing knowledge and understanding of attachment related difficulties and sensory needs




Some of our staff have had specific training for the interventions that they deliver. These include switch-on and ELSA.

More general staff training that has taken place recently has included:

· ASD awareness – delivered by CIR, now known as CISS

· Attachment issues – delivered by PMHW

· The child’s brain when in heightened state and with FASD – Michelle Pearce, Bellscroft Consultancy

· Dyslexia awareness and Dyslexia Friendly Classrooms – SENCo
